Follow these guidelines to upload files to your GitHub repository.

Create a remote repository

1. Log into your GitHub account and create your repository.
2. Set the visibility to Public or Private.

<aside> 💡 There are two ways to upload files to your repository. Based on your requirements you can select the method.

• Direct upload
  1. Select Create to add new files to your repository.
  2. Select Upload to ****add existing files to your repository.

<aside> 💡 Use this method if your folder does not contain multiple files in it or is a singular file.

</aside>

• Upload using git

  1. Download git locally to your system from https://git-scm.com/
  2. Open command prompt and check the version of Git

  > git --version
  

  1. Go to the location of your project and initialize the new git repository

  > cd <project name>
  > git init
  

  1. Add your files

  > git add <file>
  

  1. Commit changes to the local repository

  > git commit -m “first commit”
  

  1. Set the location of your remote repository

  > git remote add origin <repo url>
  

  1. Push to remote repository

  > git push -u origin <branch name>
  

To see the changes on your remote repository simply refresh the page.
